British Airways Announces Winter Schedule

San Diego, Phoenix and Denver to Operate From Heathrow; New York Flight Added

DENVER, PHOENIX and SAN DIEGO, July 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- British Airways today announced changes to its winter schedule for 2002 which involves increased services to profitable destinations and further route transfers from London Gatwick to London Heathrow.

From October 26, San Diego, Denver, Phoenix in the US and Harare and Lusaka in Africa will be operated out of Heathrow's Terminal Four. Frequencies to New York's JFK airport will increase with a seventh daily service from Heathrow. *See Notes to Editor for remainder of British Airways' winter schedule announcement.

"As part of British Airways Future Size and Shape review announced in February, we have announced route changes between Gatwick and Heathrow in an effort to improve our overall network profitability," said David Noyes, Executive VP Sales & Marketing, North America. "British Airways will continue to make a significant contribution to the Denver, Phoenix and San Diego economies by facilitating investment, tourism and travel in these regions."

The route transfers are part of the 'Future Size and Shape' Review which identified the need to simplify and improve overall profitability of British Airways' network operations by consolidating the airlines long-range Boeing 767, 777ER and 747 fleet at Heathrow and operating one type of medium range aircraft from Gatwick.

All three U.S. routes will continue to be served by a Boeing 777ER aircraft offering three classes of service with a seat configuration of 13 in First, 54 in Club World and 187 in World Traveller.

At London's Heathrow airport, British Airways' premium and frequent customers will have access to a well-appointed Terraces Lounge, a Molton Brown Spa, and a conveniently located Arrivals Lounge where passengers can shower, get their suit pressed, work out, eat or work depending on their preferences.

Further information on flight schedules and fares from the USA to the more than 200 destinations in British Airways' global network is available by calling local travel agents, calling British Airways at its toll-free number, 1 800 AIRWAYS, or by visiting the airline's website at http://www.britishairways.com.
