Ryanair is to cut fares by over 20%

RYANAIR investors and passengers may be interested to note that the Irish airline’s avaerage fare is currently € 49. However, last week, Michael O’Leary stated that this would reduce by a further 5 per cent per annum in each of the next five years. This would bring Ryanair’s average fare to € 38 in 2008, over 20 per cent lower than the current price.

Given this focus on low fares, it is no wonder that the Irish airline continues to grow passenger numbers strongly.

In its latest traffic figures, Ryanair managed to buck an industry-wide slowdown by carrying over 1,4 million passengers in March 2003, a year-on year increase of 39 per cent.

O’Leary is still targeting 24 million passengers this year, and 30 million passengers next year. This would be more passengers than either Lufthansa or Bristish Airways carry in a year.

Last week, O’Leary also stated that he was confident of meeting net profit guidance to € 235m for the year ended March 31, 2003, and that he was comfortable with the current range of net profit forecasts for the year ending March 31, 2004, of between € 285m and € 305m.

MOL hat auch schon vorhergesagt, daß man ab 2005 mit FR sogar kostenlos fliegen könne, da die Airline dann ihren Gewinn aus dem Bordgeschäft und dem Inflight Entertainment Angebot (Filme, TV, Games) ziehen würde. Das war auf dem Höhepunkt des IFE-Booms. Wie wir alle wissen, werden FR-Maschinen aber ohne IFE ausgeliefert bzw. beinhalten die neuen Bestellungen weder AirTV noch Connexion an Bord...........

 

Nun, auf dem zwischenzeitlichen Höhepunkt der Kostenkürzungen aller Airlines verspricht FR die Senkung des Durchschnittspreises durch weitere Kostensenkungen (mit oder ohne Inflation?).........

 

Bin ich jetzt FR-Hasser oder kritischer Mitmensch, wenn ich da Parallelen sehe???
