Though the dates have not yet been decided, indications are that the flights will most likely be launched sometime this year. Speaking to The Peninsula, Rashid pointed out that the Lufthansa senior management in Germany was considering Doha as its next destination in the GCC region since the carrier’s traffic from Qatar and Bahrain had increased by a whopping 123 per cent during the financial year 2002- 2003. Though Doha was an off-line station, the German flag carrier had recorded a 44 per cent increase during the first quarter of this year, he added. According to Rashid, this increase in passenger loads from Qatar was due to several reasons. Lufthansa, he said, had continued to operate to all its stations in the GCC region — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Muscat, Dammam and Jeddah — without any curtailment of services, before and during the Iraq war. Secondly, the airline has a special agreement with national carrier Qatar Airways under which passengers flying with it to any destination, could avail of an onwards journey on Lufthansa. The German carrier had also started operating the wide-body, long-haul Boeing 747-400s for its daily flights to Dubai, thus offering more passenger capacity. (...) "
D-ABVF Geschrieben 17. Juni 2003 Melden Geschrieben 17. Juni 2003 Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass die LH A330-200 nach Doha einsetzen könnte - ein geleaster A330-200 (D-AIMA) steht noch faul rum und wartet auf seinen Einsatz.
