747SP bei SAA

Hallo!

 

Ich bin ein klein bißchen verwirrt... am 23. August werde ich mit SAA von Johannesburg nach Windhoek fliegen und sowohl auf der Buchung als auch im Flugplan steht, dass auf diesem Flug (SA0074) eine Boeing 747SP eingesetzt wird. Kann das stimmen? Ich dachte, dass SAA längst keine SP mehr einsetzt - und auf der Strecke nach Windhoek schon gleich gar nicht. Also nicht dass ich da etwas dagegen hätte - im Gegenteil. Aber wird das wirklich so sein, dass ich in eine 747SP einsteige? Ich kann das noch gar nicht so recht glauben... Vielleicht weiß jemand genaueres?

SAA hat versucht seine 747SPs zu verkaufen. Aber dies nicht geschafft und benutzt diese jetzt weiter im Linienverkehr.

Ist schon eigenartig, dass auf dieser Strecke am Wochenende mit der riesigen 747 geflogen wird, wo doch sonst meist mit 737 operiert wird. Gibts dafür einen bestimmten Grund? Wieviele SPs gibts eigentlich noch bei South African?

Laut JP Airline Fleets International 2002 bsitzt SA noch 3 747SPs.

Laut dem JP 2003 besitzen sie nur noch 2 Stück.

sind noch im Dienst der South African.

 

ZS-SPA c/n 21132 "Matroosberg" Bj. 1976 wurde

letztes Jahr in Johannesburg verschrottet.

Die ZS-SPC wurde leider am 28. März 2003 auser Dienst gestellt.

ZS-SPC did her last scheduled flight with SAA on Friday the 28 March 2003.

The last flight was from Johannesburg ot Mauritius and back to Johannesburg.

 

ZS-SPC took off from JNB as SA190 and landed in Mauritius. On the return flight, SA191 was given special clearance for a low flight....

 

Richard Hunt was onboard and reports:

SPC did indeed do its last scheduled flight with SAA yesterday.

I was on the flight and what a wonderful and emotional flight it was.

On the way home special clearance was given to the flight and the aircraft was climbed to 2500FT for a flyby the entire south west coast of the island.

I am not to sure who got the better view, us from the flight deck or the people on the coast seeing a SP at 2500Ft and 300KTS beating up an absolutely beautiful coast.

Once clear of the island we were on our way and climbing to FL390 as only a SP can. The performance of this aircraft is truly amazing.

After landing in JNB all the crew gathered in the first class section for a farewell toast and emotional goodbye to our fantastic B747-SP.

By the way the aircraft landed with not a single defect to record in the maintenance book.

The aircraft will be kept on standby for the last remaining SP ZS SPE should the aircraft or parts be needed.

Dem Anschein nach ist sie aber wieder reaktiviert worden, weil SAA das Ding nicht los wird und evtl. bis zum Eintreffen der neuen Airbus Flugzeugen noch fliegt kann ich mir denken.

Bei 747SP.com steht auch das sie noch "In Service" ist.

Die ZS-SPC wird zur Zeit als back-up für die ZS-SPE eingesetzt.
