Zitat

"Sorry I'm not from LH or the Govt's side, but I just attended an evening get-together 1 hour ago where LH's new GM/South Asia was introduced and the old one was bid farewell. LH Board member Stefan Lauer and VP-Asia Pacific, Uwe Mueller were both there and addressed the guests.

The high level delegation has been here for a couple of days and though there is a lot of speculation... indications are more towards DEL getting additional frequencies and in all likelyhood to second hub MUC. Also Mr Lauer kept stressing on the MUC new terminal being the best in Europe.

Their second area of focus is BLR for additional frequencies. West bound traffic from COK though significant is not big enough to sustain non-stop Europe services especially considering that LH as a matter of policy will not operate less than 3/weekly flights to any destination as it does not make economic sense for them.

It is likely they will press for 3 more flts ex BLR to make it 6/7 besides adding DEL/MUC with A340-600s (as some of the LH insiders are anticipating)."

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/cms.dl...how?msid=146160

Ausschnitt:

"BANGLORE: It appears that Air India (AI) is all set to tie the knot with Lufthansa for its biggest ever entry into Europe and the US over the next two years.

The grand alliance will see at least 21 weekly flights spread across the southern gateways of Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kochi into Frankfurt, which will then be used as a springboard to reach out to all key destinations in Europe and the US.

Apart from expanding LH's footprint in India, it will take the total number of its weekly flights to a whopping 30, making it the biggest western carrier from the country.

Starting this December, AI will commence three weekly connections from Bangalore with a leased jumbo to Frankfurt and onward into Chicago. It will introduce the other flights once it buys some aircraft. Adding to the existing three weekly frequencies of LH, there will be six flights to the west.

The two carriers are signing a MOU for the commercial alliance this week, which will treat all flights by AI and LH from the south as joint code share flights. It is expected to give LH a strong lead over European rival British Airways (BA) in India. BA which has been knocking the doors of civil aviation ministry for entering Bangalore and Hyderabad, may well have to wait till such time that it helps Air India (AI) to get an appropriate slot at Heathrow Airport on a reciprocal basis, according to union civil aviation minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy. BA's presence in the south is limited two weekly services from Chennai. It has a daily jumbo out of Delhi and Mumbai and twice weekly flight from Kolkata.

The southern spread will be almost equally shared between AI (11) and LH (10). As a result, all the three cities will have a daily flight. LH pres-ently has nine weekly flights between Chennai and Bangalore. (...)"
