It is dawn and time to pray. The ten men put their guns and themselves down and start to pray. Three cars are waiting for them. They start to drive, we don't know where we are going. They stop to take a Sam-7 ground-air missile, covered with a white fabric. They take out of the van some R.p.g.-7, kalachnikovs and machine-guns. "Today,says the boss, we'll cut down a plane! We've planed to do this tomorrow night, but we'll do it this morning. He puts his arms up and asks Allah to support him and his team. He says his movement has already cut down five, all military."Nobody knows it, but nobody ignores that here, since the war ended, Americans are hiding their died. The first one, he says, was about July 15th, in Nasiriyya highway, 140 km far from Baghdad. We found 177 death people, but never heard about them. Nobody talked either about 50 officers coming from Turkey aboard of a plane prepared to land at Baghdad's airport about October 2nd, or 3rd, I forgot the exact date. We shot two missiles at 7 AM and touched the fusselage of the plane. I believe it was a C-130." He adds that, a week before Ramadan, a Thursday dusk, his team shot a helicopter that fell into the Euphrates. "But technically, a plane is way bigger than a helicopter", he says laughing.

 

Friday November 21st, somewhere in Baghdad, the boss of the group tells us he's found a DHL Airbus flying low. But they never shoot a civil plane."Also, I didn't know the meaning of DHL. When a friend of mine explained me those planes transport the G.I.'s mail, I regretted it a bit. It would be lots of fun watching the soldiers without their mom's of fiancee's letters. Next time, I'll shoot."

 

It is 6 AM and these men start preparing the "operation". A peasant is near and understands what is going on. He only says: "May God bless you and support your action." Then, he continues walking slowly to his tomato field. The boss hears a plane taking off from Baghdad's airport, 4 km far from here. Everyone takes his place. Two men go away carrying two Russian-made ground-air missiles Sam-7. We almost can't watch the plane from here. "Too far! Let's change place!" shouts the boss. After moving, we're about 2 km far from the airport. It is 9 AM this Tuesday November 22nd. Sky is clear and sun is shining. One of the team members starts recording the scene. A video-camera in one hand, a kalachnikov in the other. Suddenly, the boss shouts: "A plane! Come on guys, shoot!". 9:08 AM the first missile touches the wing. The second, five minutes later, misses the target. The boss starts laughing, shouthing and praying: "Allah akbar, Allah akbar, Allah akbar!". Then, they all go in different directions. A few hours later, we discover while watching the news it was A DHL Airbus...A civil target!

Das erklärt auch, warum G.W. Bush heimlich nach Bagdad flog. Hätte man gewusst, dass der Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten mitten im Irak landen würde, stünden bestimmt Hunderte ausgerüstet mit Stingers in der Einflugschneise.

Ein wenig komisch finde ich es, dass dieser wilde Haufen mit amerikanischen Straßenkreuzern durch die Gegend fährt......

 

Noch eine Frage zum Thema: Soweit ich weiß, flogen im Jugoslawienkrieg die UN-Transportmaschinen (Transall) Sarajevo mit einem sehr steilen Anflugwinkel an, um Raketenbeschüssen zu entgehen. Sie flogen (übertrieben gesagt) wie im Sturzflug. Macht man das im Irak auch und geht das auch mit normalen Flugzeugen, wie z.B. dem A300?

Das sind zum Großteil Straßenkreuzer aus den 80ern. Damals war Sadam Hussein noch kein Diktator, sondern ein Partner der Amerikaner. Da gab's noch gute wirtschaftliche Beziehungen - Waffenlieferungen, Chemiewerke, Autos, Vermögensgegenstände.

Alles was das Herz eines zukünftigen Diktators erfreut.

Saddam Hussein war bis auf die ersten Jahre seiner Amtszeit ein Diktator, und definitiv ein Solcher in den 70ern, 80ern und 90ern....

Konnte man auf dem Video auch sehen wie die Rakete die Maschine trifft?

Das ist der Hammer!!! Ich denke, dass es sich bei einigen Personen die dort abgebildet sind, um die Crew handelt!
