Air-France-Jet kollidiert mit Kuhherde in Nigeria

 

Nairobi (dpa) - Eine Passagiermaschine der französischen Fluggesellschaft Air France ist bei der Landung in der nigerianischen Stadt Port Harcourt mit einer Kuhherde kollidiert. Niemand sei verletzt worden, teilte die Airline mit. Die Maschine sei sicher zum Flugsteig gerollt. Angaben zum Zustand der Kühe liegen nicht vor. Auch der Besitzer der Herde ist noch unbekannt. An Bord des Airbus A330 aus Paris waren knapp 200 Passagiere. Das sei der erste Unfall dieser Art in Nigeria, sagte ein Air-France-Sprecher.

In a bizarre incident two planes crashed on 10jun05 on a runway in Lokichokio in Northern Kenya with the runway been closed for two days to clear the wreckages.

The first accident happened shortly after 13:00 on Friday when Hawker-Siddeley Andover C.1 5Y-SFE of private Kenyan airline 748 services landed without landing gear. The Andover formed part of an air-bridge consisting of several planes from various aid organisations that transported food from Lokichokio to Sudan. The pilot had no alternative but to perform a belly-landing, and the airport was closed to incoming air traffic because of wreckage strewn on the runway.

About an hour later Hercules L-100 S9-BAS belonging to Transafrik arrived at Lokichokio after dropping emergency supplies for the United Nations World Food Programme in Sudan. When the control tower turned the Hercules away, the pilot informed ATC, that they didn't have enough fuel to reroute, but that he would instead attempt to land on a part of the runway that was clear of wreckage. The pilot set the plane down hard, in the process bending the aircraft's frame, but the momentum carried it forward into the wreckage of the Andover. Wreckage of both aircraft were strewn across the whole runway, confounding the clearing up process. Fortunately the fire engine was still at hand after putting out the fire caused by the first crash landing. Luckily there were no casualties.

Tja, in Afrika spiel sich bloß 2% des gesamten Luftverkehrs auf der Erde ab, dafür sind in/über Afrika aber 25% aller Unfälle oder 80% aller tödlichen Flugunglücke ... Nicht gerade sehr beruhigend ...
