Verluste bei UA nehmen langsam bedrohliche Formen an

United Airlines posted larger losses but improved operating profits and cargo revenues in the second quarter.

 

The carrier said it lost $1.4 billion in the quarter, compared to a $247 million loss for the same period last year. However, the airline said $48 million in operating profits gave it hope for an exit from bankruptcy.

 

"We now have the foundation in place that enables us to continue to build a much more competitive enterprise," said Glenn Tilton, the carrier's chairman, CEO and president. "We have reduced United's costs, we are posting industry-competitive revenue performance and our employees are delivering excellent operational performance."

 

The carrier also posted $180 million in cargo revenue, 7.8 percent better than last year.

Du must dir schon die Muehe machen und auch das Kleingedruckte in der Bilanz lesen. UA hat einen operating profit von 48 Mio. verbucht. Die "Verluste" sind zum groessten Teil non-cash.

Mit diesem Ergebnis ist das Ueberleben von United so ziemlich gesichert.
