Germanwings considers permanently locating in profitable Poland

Germanwings is considering locating one of its bases in Poland, thanks to the good results it has earned here.

 

"If the flights to Poland develop as they have so far we will locate one of our bases here," said Germanwings' spokesman, Andreas Engel. "From the beginning of the year until June the number of our passengers amounted to 97,000. All routes are profitable," he added. For a considerable group of passengers, Germanwings is not a traditional budget airline. "Forty-two percent of our clients are business passengers. They do not use the traditional low-cost model. Germanwings cooperates directly with the companies and sells them tickets with the option to change flight conditions," Engel said. The company wants to strengthen its position on the Polish market. "For us Poland is the most important country in the region. In H2 [this year] we want to win over 106,000 passengers," said Marc Kristian Gerdes from Germanwings. The airline wants to begin flying twice a day in the near future and open new flight routes in 2006.

Diese Meldung finde ich sehr interessant und es wundert mich, daß noch keiner drauf geantwortet hat.

 

Mich würde vor allem interessieren, wie realistisch soetwas ist? Wird man alle Genehmigungen kriegen? Wird man nicht Probleme mit LOT und Centralwings bekommen?

 

Die Aussage, dass man sich nicht nur als LowCost Airline sieht, sondern es offensichtlich auf Businesskunden abgesehen hat ist auch interessant, wenn man zwischen den Zeilen liest.

Polen ist zur zeit sehr populär.

Auch FR plant weitere Strecken nach Polen zu eröffnen.

Möglicherweise auch eine Basis in 2007.

 

Mögliche Ziele sind diesmal Katowice (Kattowitz), Deblin, Lublin-Niedzwiada, Szczytno (Ortelsburg) and Bialystok (Bielostok).

 

Hab zwar wieder von einigen Orten noch nie was gehört, aber wenigstens werden so meine Geographiekenntnisse dank FR immer besser. :)
