New Antonov to be produced in Siberia

[28 Feb 2002] The Antonov aircraft company on Tuesday signed an agreement with a Russian aviation plant for construction of a new model of passenger jet, officials said.

 

The new plane, to be called the An-148, is to be built at the Ulan-Ude aviation plant in southern Siberia, said Antonov marketing head Oleksandr Kiva. The first plane is expected to be completed in 2004 and will cost an estimated dlrs 15 million.

 

The An-148 will hold about 70 passengers, have a top speed of 850 kilometers /530 miles/ per hour and a range of 7,000 kilometers /4,300 miles/.

 

Antonov planes are widely used in the countries of the former Soviet Union and by small airlines elsewhere, with the An-24 twin turboprop especially popular.

An der Promotion muss Antonov aber noch arbeiten

 

Mich würde das Thema auch interessieren aber ich habe keine einzige vernünftige englische Homepage gefunden (nur russische) und auch kein Bild.
