German charter and budget airline Air Berlin is linking its web search operations with that of Munich-based budget counterpart DBA from December.

Both budget airlines will post each other’s destination on their respective websites, providing ticket price details.

DBA chief Hans Rudolf Wöhrl and Air Berlin CEO Joachim Hunold said today: “The spread of networks of both DBA and Air Berlin ideally complement each other. The focal point of DBA is on German domestic point-to-point traffic, while that of Air Berlin is on European flights. We have linked these services on our internet sites which enables any interested passenger to gain an overview in the shortest time about all connections.”

DBA and Air Berlin together offer 450 daily flights operating from 20 German airports and 50 airports throughout Europe.

Once a customer finds a suitable flight on www.flydba.com but which is operated by Air Berlin he is then directed to the website of Air Berlin where payment is made and electronic ticket is issued.

Hans Rudolf Wöhrl and Joachim Hunold led the marketing-cooperation of both airline jointly.

A spokeswoman for Air Berlin says: “This is not a commercial agreement but simply a co-operation between the two airlines. We thought it made sense as we operate very different networks and we are not working against each other.”
