Harms Jet Aircraft Census List wird nicht weitergeführt

To all my dear and loyal friends,

 

It is with much regret that I have to inform you that the next update of my Census Lists and Aircraft Status Report, planned for mid-November, will be my last one. I find that I am unable to continue to devote the necessary time and effort to the project and that, after considerable personal soul searching and consultation with my family, I have now decided that I must conclude its publication at this time. The decision is totally mine and it is final (and I would appreciate to not receive any pleading requests to continue).

 

I know that this decision will come as a large disappointment to all of you, as it was to me, but I hope that you will understand that my health and family must come first. I fully understand the dependence that many of you have placed on receiving my lists and I wish that things could be different.

 

At the present time, no decision has been made with regard to the continuing status of the web site. I hope to be able to give you more information on that with my November update. It is probable that the last list will remain posted for some time so that everyone can extract that latest and last information as desired.

 

If there is anyone out there who would be willing to devote the necessary time, money and effort into continuing the project, I would be delighted to hear from you. While I cannot tell anyone what they must do, I can only inform you that I have been devoting in excess of 60 hours a week and probably around 500 U.S. dollars a year to the effort. Anyone who is unable or unwilling to expend that amount of time and money to the project probably need not even think about applying. If anyone would be serious about it, please let me know and I will be happy to provide more details. However, I would much rather close out the site completely than to let it deteriorate into something that is of limited use, completeness and accuracy.

 

As a bit of background, I have been enjoying this record keeping hobby for well over 25 years. I have been sharing it over the internet for more than the last ten of those years and on this web site for the last five. Having worked in the aviation industry for my entire working career (1957-1992), I owe a large debt of gratitude to that industry and the people with whom I have been associated during that time. The sharing of my hobby with all of you has been one of the ways in which I have been able to repay, to some degree, the industry that has been so good to me.

 

However, the time has come for me to get on with my personal life with my wife, children and grandchildren. I bid you all a fond adieu and wish you all many wonderful years of enjoyment of the true love of aircraft and flight. You can be assured, however, that I will be lurking around in the background, as aviation will always be a true love of mine.

Gehört vielleicht in ein OffTopic Forum, aber ich dachte einige interessiert es. Bei Bill Harms konnte man die Listen aller gebauten Airbus, Boeing und Lockheed Flugzeuge sehen, die im Dienst, in der Wüste, abgestürzt oder verschrottet worden sind. Dazu gab es sämtliche Registries und Informationen. Es war also ein JP AIRLINE FLEET online. Eigentlich schade, aber die Gründe muss man verstehen.

Das ist wirklich schade.

 

Bill hat immer eine grossartige Leistung gezeigt. Er hat sehr viel Zeit in sein Hobby investiert. Und auf seinen Alten Tage (hoffe noch viele) möchte er sich halt ein bischen mehr um seine Familie kümmern.

Zum Glück wird es noch ein Update geben. Ich kann nur hoffen, dass jemand in der gleichen Art und Weise einen Census weiterführt.

Das ist wirklich schade!!!

 

Aber der Aufwang ist einfach wahnsinnig! Ich selbst führe auch solche Listen (nur über Airbus), und stecke da schon genügend Zeit hinein!!! Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen noch Listen über Boeing und alle anderen Hersteller zu führen! das ist einfach zuviel!

 

Wers interssiert, meine Airbuslisten sind unter http://www.8ung.at/ch-aviation/ aufgeführt. Ein Update mache ich jeweils Mitte Monat, wobei ich diesesmal leider einige Tage verspätung habe! Folgt aber noch....

Kennt ihr vielleich andere Seiten im Internet mit Pruduktions-Listen die ständig weitergeführt werden? Wenn ja bitte posten!
