KLM strukturiert Billigflieger buzz um

LONDON (dpa-AFX) - Die niederländische Fluggesellschaft KLM will mit einer größeren Unabhängigkeit ihres Billigfliegers buzz mehr Marktanteile auf dem Billigflugmarkt ergattern. Buzz solle neu strukturiert werden und seine Geschäfte ausbauen, berichtet die "Financial Times" (Mittwochausgabe) ohne Angabe einer Quelle. Die Pläne sollen noch im Laufe des Tages bekannt gegeben.

Dabei solle buzz künftig als eigenständige Einheit operieren. Buzz wurde von KLM 2000 auf den Markt gebracht als Tochter von KLM UK. Heimatflughafen ist der britische Flughafen London Stansted.

 

KLM hatte in der vergangenen Woche erklärt, buzz werde noch in diesem Jahr die Gewinnschwelle anfliegen. Die Passagierzahlen seien vor allem durch den Ausbau der Geschäfte in Frankreich kräftig gestiegen. Buzz habe sich damit auf stark frequentierte Kurzstrecken spezialisiert./FX/sh/zb/ar

KLM GROUP CHOOSES POSITIONS IN THE LOW COST AND LEISURE MARKET SEGMENTS

 

AMSTELVEEN, October 30, 2002 — The KLM Group has named buzz as the low-cost airline for the group. As a leisure carrier, Transavia is improving the efficiency of its network operations, product concept, and distribution to serve the leisure market segment.

 

The decision was taken by the KLM Board based on the results of a study led by Floris J. van Pallandt, who was charged with positioning the KLM Group within the low-cost and leisure markets.

 

 

From November 1, 2002, Mr. Van Pallandt will focus exclusively on further developing buzz as an independent low-cost carrier within the KLM Group. Until further notice, from the same date Mr. Tjero R. Zomer will take over his position as CEO and president of Transavia. Mr. Zomer has been a Transavia Board member for the last fifteen years.

In just under three years, buzz has grown to be the third-largest low-cost carrier in the UK and has taken second place in both France and Germany.

 

To further consolidate its position in Britain, buzz will open Bournemouth on England’s south coast as a second base after London Stansted. In addition, the airline is researching the possibilities of establishing another UK base as well as one on the European continent.

 

In 2003, the company will start renewing and expanding its fleet by replacing its BAe 146 aircraft with Boeing 737-300s. Negotiations for the airline’s second phase — once it has replaced the BAe 146s — are still underway.

 

In years to come, for buzz this will result in the further expansion of the route network and increased frequencies and capacity on its existing routes. Last Sunday, October 27, buzz added services between London Stansted and Amsterdam to its network, which now totals 24 routes in Europe. On November 1, buzz will become an independent enterprise within the KLM Group. The blue KLM uk operation will be combined with KLM cityhopper.

 

 

Transavia

 

Transavia will continue to concentrate on charter and scheduled flights for the leisure market, using Schiphol as its home base. KLM will take over flight operations for a limited number of routes which are of particular importance to KLM’s worldwide route network. Transavia will increase the use of internet and call centers as distribution channels. Additionally on more and more flights the paid service concept will be introduced.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines spokesman Bart Koster said Buzz expects to expand its fleet of aircraft to 30-40 in the coming 3-4 years from 10 now.

 

He said that Buzz will start renewing and expanding its fleet by replacing its eight BAe 146 aircraft and two Boeing 737-300s with six new Boeing 737-300 aircraft.

Da bleibt bei mir eine Frage offen. Was passiert mit den Basiq Air-Flügen der Transavia ex Amsterdam und Rotterdam? Überlässt man den LCC-Markt ex NL easyJet, wird Transavia diese Flüge weiterhin anbieten oder übernimmt Buzz auch diese Flüge?

Wird das Produkt "Basiq Air" als Low-Cost Angebot aus AMS verschwinden?

 

Ich hatte es zuvor immer so verstanden, als wolle KLM buzz und basiq air zu einer Marke zusammenlegen.

Davon war jetzt aber nicht mehr die Rede, oder? Sonst würde es ja bedeuten, dass auch eine neue,dritte Base von buzz in AMS enstünde.

 

Welche Ziele sollen sich eigentlich von den derzeit von buzz angeflogenen Zielen auch ex Bournmouth lohnen?

Neben DUS, AMS und CDG fällt mir da nichts mehr ein. Mit diesen 3 Ziele (AMS und CDG 2xtägl., DUS 1xtägl.) wäre ja nur eine einzige MAschine beschäftigt. Lohnt sich dafür eine Base?

Okt (Reuters) - Die niederländische Fluggesellschaft KLM will ihre Billigfliegertochter buzz im Wettbewerb stärken und erwägt für diese die Errichtung einer zusätzlichen kontinentaleuropäischen Basis. Der Standort könnte in Deutschland, in Frankreich oder in Spanien sein, sagte der neu ernannte Buzz-Chef Floris van Pallandt am Mittwoch in Amsterdam. Die Muttergesellschaft KLM Royal Dutch Airlines plant nach Pallandts Worten keinen Verkauf von Buzz. Auch eine Fusion mit der anderen Billigflieger-Tochter von KLM, Basiq Air, sei nicht vorgesehen. KLM kündigte an, Buzz mit zusätzlichen Flugrouten und Kapazitäten auszustatten, um die Tochter im Wettbewerb mit anderen Billigfliegern wie easyJet oder Ryanair zu stärken. Buzz werde außerdem ab November eine größere Unabhängigkeit haben. Innerhalb von knapp drei Jahren hat sich Buzz in Großbritannien zum drittgrößten Billigfluganbieter entwickelt. In Deutschland und Frankreich steht die KLM-Tochter bei den Billigfliegern an zweiter Stelle.

KLM's Basiq Air to expand to 13 destinations from 6 currently from April 1

 

AMSTERDAM (AFX) - KLM Royal Dutch Airlines NV unit Transavia said it will expand the number of destinations offered by its low-cost service Basiq Air to 13 from 6 now from April 1.

 

Basiq Air will add the destinations Alicante, Faro, Palma de Mallorca, Seville, Milan, Naples and Pisa to its existing routes, the airline said.

 

Transavia will maintain a no frills concept, charging for additional service on board, on its Basiq Air service and on 30 of its 70 charter destinations.

Diese Strategie von KLM versteh' ich eben nicht. Auf der einen Seite heisst es, buzz wird der LCC von KL, andererseits les' ich dann, dass HV weitere BasiqAir Dienste anbieten wird - ja was denn nun? Weiss man in Amstelveen wirklich, was man will?

Jetzt gibt's etwas konkretere Info's bezüglich HV/Basiqair (von NL email-Liste):

 

Transavia stellt Linienflüge zu folgenden Zielen ab Sommerflugplan '03 ein:

 

- Casablanca;

- Porto;

- Thessaloniki;

- Valencia;

- Khatmandu (per winter 2003/2004)

 

Folgende Ziele werden nicht (mehr) als Linie, sondern per Charterflug bedient, mit Einzelplatzverkauf:

 

- Las Palmas;

- Tenerife;

- Heraklion;

- Rhodos;

- Funchal;

- Catania;

 

Die übrigen Ziele werden Basiqair-Flüge.

 

Ab Sommer '03 sind 60% der Charterflüge nach dem Basiqair-Konzept, ab Sommer '04 sollen es 100% sein.

Nach Berichten aus Schottland soll Buzz in den nächsten Tagen als dritter LCC nach Ryanair und FlyGlobespan eine Basis in Prestwick ankündigen.
