coolAIR Geschrieben 31. Januar 2003 Melden Geschrieben 31. Januar 2003 2 Topmeldungen heute morgen zur Ryanair: Der Knaller: Laut n-tv und auch BBC online wird Ryanair von KLM die LCC-Airline buzz zum Preis von gut 23 Mio. € erwerben. EDIT: Ein Bericht von BBC online: "Friday, 31 January, 2003, 07:53 GMT Ryanair gets airline Buzz Low-cost airline Ryanair has revealed plans to buy its smaller rival Buzz. Buzz is currently owned by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, but will be bought by the Irish airline for 23.9m euros (£15.6m;$25.7m). Ryanair, which has so far avoided acquisitions, said the deal represented good value. The Dublin-based group said it would close a number of Buzz's unprofitable routes, while increasing the frequency and reducing the cost of other routes. 'Nominal' sum Both Buzz and Ryanair have major hubs at Stansted airport in the UK. Ryanair said the deal would allow it to expand its reach from Stansted, where Buzz currently operates 21 routes. "It's about consolidating the low-cost centre and strengthening their position at Stansted," a spokesman from the travel group TUI told BBC News 24. Ryanair described the cost of the deal as "nominal", and said it would be funded from its existing cash deposits. Earlier this week, Ryanair announced it was to open its ninth European base at Stockholm's Skavsta airport. The huge order is sure to surprise many in the industry, coming just a year after Ryanair ordered 100 of the same single-aisle airplanes and took options on 50 more, making it Boeing Co.'s (BA, news) single-largest order of 2002. The move follows Boeing's report yesterday of improved fourth-quarter earnings that were helped by stronger military defense orders, but reflected the deep slump in commercial aviation. It was unclear how many of the new Ryanair orders are firm and how many are options, although people familiar with the deal say that it will include a " moderate" number of firm orders that will be delivered in 2004 and 2005, with the balance accounted for as options. The companies called a media conference in London for today, at which they are expected to disclose more details of the deal. Although the list price for the 100 planes is roughly $6 billion, people familiar with the deal said Boeing agreed to steep discounts. A Ryanair spokeswoman declined to comment. A Boeing spokesman in London also declined to comment." http://www.quicken.com/investments/news_ce...mp;column=P0DFP [ Diese Nachricht wurde geändert von: coolAIR am 2003-01-31 09:04 ]
