Virgin Express Beats Ryanair Again in August and September for Punctuality

Virgin Express is very pleased to announce that it has beaten Ryanair again for punctuality in August and September 2003.

This week, Ryanair stated in a press statement that the Irish low fare carrier is the 'No. 1 airline in Europe for punctuality'. In a table, characterised by customary selectiveness, Ryanair compared itself with some members of the Association of European Airlines, but omitted to compare with Belgian carriers such as Virgin Express.

'Ryanair has done well to improve its punctuality, as it needed to do so. However, they are still behind Virgin Express in this area. Delivering on-time performance to and from the many secondary airports in the middle of nowhere is one thing. To deliver even better punctuality to and from the major airports that are much more highly utilised is an entirely different thing', said Neil Burrows, Managing Director of Virgin Express.

In August 2003 Ryanair recorded an on-time arrivals result of 92%. It did not state its departure punctuality. That same month 95.1% of all scheduled flights of Virgin Express left on time* and 95.7% arrived on time at their destination. In September 2003, 94.2% of Ryanair's flight arrived on time. Virgin Express outperformed the so-called 'European champion of on-time performance' again by reaching a punctuality figure of 94.2% for departing and 95.2% for arriving on time.
