touchdown99 Geschrieben 2. Dezember 2003 Melden Geschrieben 2. Dezember 2003 Man will jetzt mit Boeing 737-300 in UK fliegen. There was a double helping of good news for Aberdeen yesterday as it was revealed a new airline will be launching flights from Aberdeen to Stansted in January, and at the same time will be creating 20 jobs in the city. The new service is expected to spark fierce competition to win passengers on Aberdeen-London routes - with British Airways already operating to Heathrow and Gatwick, and easyJet to Luton. Prestwick-based Air Omega UK, a newly-formed subsidiary of German cargo airline Air Omega, is the newcomer which has picked up the Aberdeen-Stansted route six years after it was given up by KLM. Suzanne Reid, the company's general manager, said: "Aberdeen-Stansted will be our first passenger route, and we will be directly employing 20 flight deck and cabin crew in Aberdeen. "There will also be a spin-off in terms of jobs for handling and other staff at other companies." Air Omega UK will be operating four flights each way from Monday to Friday with a single Boeing 737 130-seat aircraft, with the first flight heading south at 6.25am on January 5. The last flight of the day will arrive in Aberdeen at 9.45pm. Ms Reid said the airline would assess later whether it might also operate services at weekends. Tickets will be available in three classes - first, business and economy, with fares starting at £70 one-way. http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/displayNo...ntentPK=7988286 Die beiden Brasilia der deutschen Air Omega sollen offenabr in Paxmaschinen zurückgerüstet werden und von Prestwick aus u.a. nach East Midlands und Tees-Side fliegen.... PRESTWICK Airport has clinched a major jobs and flights boost. The Ayrshire low-cost hub has attracted a new start-up airline which plans to create more than 100 jobs and offer new air services to England and the continent. Air Omega UK will launch new flights from Prestwick early next year to English provincial airports with services to Europe later. It has already secured 45 jobs at a call centre in Irvine which will handle bookings, including daily Aberdeen-London flights unveiled yesterday. Today its general director, Suzanne Reid, said the airline would also need up to 70 cabin and ground crew and other workers at what will become its HQ at Prestwick Airport. Ms Reid declined to say exactly where the airline will fly to - in case competitors try to steal the routes. But the Evening Times understands that early in the new year, Air Omega will launch short-hop flights to English provincial airports such as East Midlands and Teesside using two Brazilian 30-seater Embraer turbo-prop planes. And bigger planes will join the fleet in May. Ms Reid said: "All the planes we buy from now on will be jets. We are talking about a high-quality service at reasonable prices, with com- fortable leather seats and hot meals on all but the shortest sectors." Airline insiders said other plans include the chance to be picked up and dropped off after flights - the kind of service pioneered by US commuter airlines. The Evening Times first revealed Prestwick was in talks with Air Omega, the offshoot of a German airfreight company, early last month. Ms Reid said: "We are looking to be associated with Scotland. All flights will originate here." Air Omega hopes to establish itself as the second biggest airline at Prestwick, currently dominated by Irish budget carrier Ryanair. Prestwick managing director Tom Wilson said: "Air Omega has ambitious plans but is starting off small. It has begun training people and says it wants to recruit locally." http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/hi/news/5021574.html
