touchdown99 Geschrieben 19. Dezember 2003 Melden Geschrieben 19. Dezember 2003 Ryanair suffered a fresh setback in its battle against the regulators yesterday when a French appeals court upheld a ruling that the no-frills carrier had accepted unfair subsidies to establish its Stansted-Strasbourg route. In a move that dashed Ryanair's hopes of resurrecting the suspended service in January, the court in Nancy, eastern France, upheld a complaint against Ryanair from Brit Air, a subsidiary of Air France. Ryanair's shares fell 3% on the news, although they later recovered to end the day little changed. Brit Air objected to the fact that Strasbourg airport put together a package of incentives for Ryanair worth €1.4m (£970,000), while the rival airline was unable to get similar terms. A French ruling that the incentives deal was illegal prompted Ryanair to suspend the service in September and start one to Baden Baden in Germany instead. Ryanair reacted with dismay yesterday. Michael O'Leary, chief executive, said: "Ryanair is committed to restoring its low-fares Strasbourg-London service and will be appealing this decision, if necessary all the way through the French courts and to the European court in Luxembourg itself." He has claimed that passenger numbers have collapsed since Ryanair pulled out of Strasbourg, the seat of the European parliament, and that Air France is systematically ripping off visiting MEPs. Air France has dismissed his claims. Mr O'Leary said: "We would like to apologise to ordinary French consumers and visitors who will continue to be forced to pay Air France's rip-off high fares of nearly €800 for Strasbourg to London flights instead of the €9 (plus taxes) one-way fares charged by Ryanair." http://www.guardian.co.uk/airlines/story/0...1110070,00.html Ryanair hatte bekanntlich bereits angekündigt, die Flüge nach SXB im Janaur wieder aufnehmen zu wollen, wenn das Gericht in ihrem Sinne entscheiden würde....
