Thai Airways fliegt ab heute nonstop von Bangkok nach New York's JFK International Airport.

Der komplette Flug wird in 17 std. und 7 minuten absolviert. Thai wird für diese Strecke ein Airbus A340-500 einsetzen, dies 6 mal in der Woche.

Thai hat auch am Times Square mit einem MegaPlakat kräftig die Werbetrommel gerührt.

Übrigens ist der erste LTU-Jet nach JFK heute auf Reisen gegangen. (nach langer Zeit wieder LTU nach New York)

Einfach geiles neues design

Hallo,

 

17,5 h nonstop fliegen,da freut sich die Thrombose.Ich stelle mir einen solch langen Nonstopflug furchtbar vor.Dann lieber einmal zwischenlanden und sich für eine Stunde die Füsse vertreten.

Gibt es da wenigstens eine vernünftige Bar an Bord,oder ein Fitnesszentrum ?

Der Delta-Flug TXL-JFK ist heute auch zum ersten Mal gestartet. Ist ja richtig was los in NY.

Zu dem DL Flug TXL-JFK gibt's folgende Info bei Airliners.net

 

The inaugural return today DL79 was overbooked in Economy. Actually, the loads for both May and June both ways are quite heavy particularly in Economy. Weekend days are often overbooked...although they were offering some very attractive intro fares in this market...

BKK-JFK wird nun reduziert, von 6 auf 4 wöchentliche Flüge. Dafür will THAI aber Nonstoppdienste von BKK nach LAX anbieten, ebenfalls 4x wöchentlich, welche den bisherige Direktflug nach LAX mit Zwischenstopp in Osaka ersetzen sollen.

BKK-LAX wird ähnlich lange unterwegs sein wie BKK-JFK...

 

Cut in direct service to New York likely

 

Thai Airways International is seriously looking at offering non-stop services from Bangkok to Los Angeles as soon as the end of this year while at the same time cutting back on its high-profile but costly direct flights to New York. The plan has surfaced as the national carrier moves to rationalise its North American operations which has become financially burdensome as the result of the launching of the expensive Bangkok-New York service in May.

 

Though THAI executives have been pleased with the load factor on the Bangkok-New York sector , reportedly at 70-80%, soaring fuel prices and competitive fare-setting have hit the airline's bottom line.

 

The airline may offer four direct flights a week between Bangkok and Los Angeles in December or January and reduce the non-stop Bangkok-New York frequencies to four a week from six at present.

The planned direct Bangkok-Los Angeles service would avoid heavy competition from other airlines that fly to Los Angeles via Japan, either through Tokyo's Narita airport or Osaka's Kansai.

The direct Bangkok-Los Angeles service would replace the airline's existing Los Angeles-bound flights, also four times a week, which stop at Osaka's Kansai airport and are operated by B747-400 jumbo jets.

 

The airline would use the new long-range 215-seat A340-500s to fly the direct Bangkok-Los Angeles services, similar to the Bangkok-New York operation.

Wenn du die entsprechende Klasse buchst, gibt es eine Bar. Aber Fitnesszentrum gibt es wie bei allen anderen auch nicht. Ich nehme aber mal an, dass Thai wie SQ auch einen großzügigeren Sitzabstand in diesem Flugzeug hat.
