airwatch Geschrieben 30. Mai 2008 Melden Geschrieben 30. Mai 2008 In newspapers and on TV in Bulgaria and Macedonia appeared last night and this morning the news that the only (!) plane they own, an Embraer, was grounded at DUS for unpaid bills. Has anything been said in the German press about this, or is there any link or guidance how one can find out more on this subject? Greets - Airwatch
debonair Geschrieben 30. Mai 2008 Melden Geschrieben 30. Mai 2008 well, lets move on in German...
airwatch Geschrieben 30. Mai 2008 Autor Melden Geschrieben 30. Mai 2008 Apologize, but my German might just be good enough to read and understand some of this, but no chance for writing, sorry. Re Embraer you are correct, it naturally is a CanadAir. The envisaged B737 has long been canceled, apperently. The impounded CRJ is, nevertheless, still on ground at DUS (19:30h LCL today), but there were rumors the outstanding bills would be (or have been) settled and the plane return to SKP (first picking up stranded paxs at HAM) tonight. There is confusion, though, who had instigated this: some airports using DUS as a front, or EUROCONTROL? Purposed misinformation in order not to be able to blame the right party? Thats why I was wondering if the German Press reported anything about this, or if anywhere else any news appeared. One operation out of SKP operated today (ZRH return) with a leased spanish B737. Flts to VIE/HAM/BER were 'postponed'. Greets - Airwatch
Thomas_Jaeger Geschrieben 1. Juni 2008 Melden Geschrieben 1. Juni 2008 They have been flying with wet-leased equipment for months. They returned their B737-300 to CIT last October and have been struggling to find a replacement for it since then. A lease for an ex-S7 Airlines B737-500 has not materialized either, so they have been using a variety of aircraft including Air VIA A320-200s and now a Hola B737-300 since then to have a second aircraft allowing them to continue with their existing schedule.
airwatch Geschrieben 1. Juni 2008 Autor Melden Geschrieben 1. Juni 2008 Thomas, tks. That pretty much sums it up. Another airline in a not-so-pretty operational and financial chaos. Just wonder if that was also the reason for impounding their plane at DUS, and what was actually behind it. Greets - Airwatch
