transavia.com has decided to respond directly to Sterling and Air Berlin two low-cost airlines that have recently started flying to transavia.com destinations from Schiphol. So, as from 22 August 2005, transavia.com will operate flights from Amsterdam to Berlin (Tegel) ten times a week and from Amsterdam to Copenhagen daily. transavia.com will stop operating scheduled services from Rotterdam Airport to Berlin (Schnefeld) and Copenhagen from the same date.

We have invested in setting up services from Rotterdam to Berlin and Copenhagen and we do not intend to be crowded out, said Onno van den Brink, President & CEO of transavia.com. To make it clear that we mean business, it is essential that we use the same weapons to do battle with our competitors.

In order to free up enough capacity for these new routes in the short term, transavia.com will stop operating scheduled services from Rotterdam to Stockholm and Oslo for the time being. Van den Brink regrets this given that these routes were still in development. We have to make choices. The scheduled services to Oslo and Stockholm are not yet under immediate threat. However, at the moment our priority is to respond to competitors seeking to muscle in on destinations in development.

We intend to review the composition of our destination portfolio in the winter season. Passengers who have booked a flight leaving 22 August or later from Rotterdam to Oslo or Stockholm, will be transferred to a KLM flight from Amsterdam. Passengers who have booked a flight leaving 22 August or later from Rotterdam to Berlin (Schnefeld) or Copenhagen, will be transferred to a transavia.com flight from Amsterdam to Berlin (Tegel) or from Amsterdam to Copenhagen.

As from 22 August transavia.com will increase the number of flights between Amsterdam and Berlin(Tegel) from ten to twelve per week. On weekdays there will be a flight every morning and evening, ideal for business travel. At the weekend there will be one flight a day.

Up untill 22 August daily flights between Rotterdam and Berlin Schonefeld will continue as usual.

In addition to this increase in capacity, the fares for tickets to Berlin and Copenhagen will be reduced. Tickets are now available fom as little as 19.99 euro one way (previously 29.99 euro), excluding taxes and surcharges. A quarter of the total tickets available for these destinations will be sold at these reduced fares.
