Auf dem US-Flughafen La Guardia in New York ist am Freitag aufgrund eines Sicherheitsalarms ein Terminal geräumt worden.

 

Zuvor sei eine Person an einem Sicherheits-Kontrollpunkt davon gelaufen, berichtete der Sender CNN. Der Mann habe für eine Überprüfung seine Schuhe ausgezogen und sei dann ohne diese davon gerannt.

 

Der Vorfall habe sich am Terminal der Gesellschaft Delta Air Lines ereignet. Etwa 600 bis 700 Menschen hätten das Terminal verlassen müssen. Den Flugzeugen am Terminal D werde derzeit der Start nicht gestattet.

Officials shut down and evacuated part of the Delta Air Lines terminal at New York's LaGuardia Airport on Friday after a man's shoes set off an alarm for explosives residue, officials said.

 

The man was allowed to leave the security area before the security alert was resolved, an official of the Transportation Security Administration in Washington said, and authorities were searching for him.

 

A witness told CNN that 600 to 700 people were evacuated from the terminal.

 

The Transportation Security Administration official said just before 3 p.m., a male passenger going through a security checkpoint at the Delta terminal set off a general alert calling for a more thorough examination.

 

The man removed his shoes for a screening, which detected the possible presence of explosives residue. The man apparently then proceeded beyond the security checkpoint, the TSA spokesman said. It was unclear why he was allowed to go on.

CNN said flights were not being allowed to take off but were being allowed to land after the security breach.
