"Avion Group hf is pleased to announce that it is in the final discussions on establishing an aircraft operating certificate (“AOC”) in Germany. This will strengthen the Charter & Leisure division of Avion Group outside the UK. Process is due to be finalised by end of March.

 

The Charter & Leisure division’s operations involve charter flights, seat provision and general travel services. Operating an AOC in Germany will provide greater critical mass with improved synergies and more diversified utilization of the Group’s aircraft fleet.

 

Two Airbus 320 aircraft are planned to be in operation in the region in Summer 2006, with plans for additional aircraft over time. Planned destinations will be Eastern and Southern Europe and the Middle East.

 

To aid in this process, Avion Group has entered into an agreement to purchase assets from the now defunct German carrier Aero Flight GmbH & Co. Luftverkehrs-KG. The agreement is subject to a number of approvals which are to be finalised by end of March.

 

The operation in Germany will not have a material effect on Avion Group’s current operation, with an estimated increase in turnover of 30 million euros expected this year. Avion Group has planned to spend 10 million euros in establishing and growing the operation in Germany in 2006.

 

Ómar Benediktsson, former CEO of Air Atlanta Icelandic, will manage operations in Germany at the beginning."

auf dem Internetauftritt von Aero Flight hat sich seit dem 1. November des letzten Jahres nichts mehr getan. Bei YP wurden damals nach kurzer Zeit die Server abgeschalten. Das deutet auf eine Zukunft hin... *hoff*

Der insolvente Ferienflieger Aero Flight hat einen neuen Investor gefunden. Die isländische Avion-Gruppe soll über eine neu gegründete deutsche Gesellschaft einige Vermögenswerte übernehmen und eine neue Betriebsgenehmigung beim Luftfahrt-Bundesamt beantragen.

 

Die positive Nachricht teilte der vorläufige Insolvenzverwalter Ottmar Hermann am Donnerstag mit. Die Avion-Gruppe wolle unter einem neuen Namen den Flugbetrieb mit zwei Flugzeugen aufnehmen und damit in den deutschen Markt einsteigen.

 

Insolvenz nach Flugstopp

 

Das Luftfahrt-Bundesamt hatte Aero Flight Anfang November die Betriebsgenehmigung wegen Zweifeln an der wirtschaftlichen Leistungsfähigkeit nicht mehr verlängert. Nach einem gut dreiwöchigen Flugstopp und der vergeblichen Suche nach einem neuen Geldgeber musste die Fluggesellschaft Insolvenz anmelden. Schon seinerzeit war die Avion-Gruppe als neuer Geldgeber im Gespräch. Sie hatte sich dann aber nach eingehender Prüfung gegen ein Engagement entschieden. Wie viel die Isländer jetzt für den Kauf gezahlt haben, wurde nicht mitgeteilt.

 

Arbeitsplatzsituation ist offen

 

Die Aero Flight war 2004 nach der Pleite der traditionsreichen Fluggesellschaft Aero Lloyd gegründet worden. Zuletzt flog die Chartergesellschaft mit sechs geleasten Airbus-Maschinen. Bei der Aero Flight GmbH & Co. Luftverkehrs-KG arbeiten den Angaben zufolge knapp 30 Mitarbeiter in der Verwaltung und im Vertrieb. Darüber hinaus sind etwa 150 Mitarbeiter, unter ihnen Boden- und Kabinenpersonal, in einer Personalgesellschaft beschäftigt. Ob und wie viele Arbeitsplätze mit der Übernahme durch die Avion-Gruppe gesichert sind, war zunächst nicht klar.

Star Airlines carried approximately 900,000 passengers in 2005. On completion of this acquisition Avion Group is expected to carry approximately seven million passengers on an annual basis.

 

Star Airlines reported revenues of €173 million (13 billion ISK) for the year 2005, yielding profit before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of €1.9 million (142 million ISK). Avion Group is projecting a substantial growth in EBITDA for Star Airlines in 2006 by implementing cost savings through synergies with other Avion Group entities. Purchase price is undisclosed. The purchase will be financed through Avion Group’s equity and with debt.

 

Star Airlines’ fleet is the newest in the French charter market, consisting of six Airbus aircraft; four Airbus 320s and two Airbus 330-200s.

 

Star Airlines is a privately-owned company founded in 1995 by Cédric Pastour, and currently employs approximately 460 staff.

 

Commenting on the acquisition, Magnus Thorsteinsson, Chairman of Avion Group, said:

 

“Star Airlines represents a fantastic opportunity for Avion to grow in continental Europe. Star Airlines gives Avion an access to a big market with a lot of potentials.”

Gibt es diese Verbindung noch und wenn ja, welche Auswirkungen hat die Aquisation nun auf das transatlantische Bündniss?

Naja, stimmt nur fast... weltweites Imperium passt da besser- schliesslich hat AVION auch schon Casino Express Airlines, USA übernommen!

 

Sehe ich das richtig, dass auch die Islandsflug zu AVION gehört??

 

Mal eine andere Frage, es hieß ja, das die AIR ATLANTA & EXCEL (ggfs. noch mit Islandsflug??) zu einer marke verschmolzen werden sollten... was ist daraus geworden??

Ja ATN340 da hast du was übersehen. Die Partnerschaft zwischen Air Transat und Star Airlines gibts schon länger nicht mehr. Star gehörte zuletzt dem selben Typ (sorry Name vergessen) wie die Air Horizon. Man ging davon aus, dass dieser Typ auch noch die Star kaputt macht.

 

Islandsflug gibts nicht mehr. Diese wurde in die Air Atlanta Iceland integriert.
